MVA (soft tissue/whiplash) Injury
Have
you been involved in a minor fender bender?
We treat soft tissue/whiplash injuries by providing
in pool
and
clinical therapy programs:
- In pool core conditioning
- In pool conditioning programs to maintain flexibility, strength
and balance
- In pool chiropractic treatments and massage therapy
Our therapy complies with the new provision (Insurance bill
53) regarding appropriate early intervention therapy.
Post MVA – Initial Medical Evaluations
Initial evaluations for minor injury (sprains/strains) and
WAD (Whiplash Associated Disorder) may be conducted by Dr. Christian
Brix D.C., at our Lake Bonavista Village location.
They are direct billed to your insurance company.
This initial assessment and the outcome
determines the type and duration of therapy/treatment under
the provisions of the insurance act.

Water Moves Chiropractor has a private clinical practice.
Education Programs
As part of your therapy program we also educate the individual
on methods to self manage. We offer individual and Group
Rehab sessions that include:
- Self care (if appropriate) ICE (Ice
Compression Elevation)
- Thermal (heat) application if & when it’s
necessary.
- Educate a safe return to normal activity including
work, social and community based activities as quickly
as deemed appropriate.
- Discourage long term dependence on a Clinical/Patient
type treatment which may pro-long the return to normal
daily activity.
MVA Serious/Critical Injury
We also provide intensive ongoing Rehab for the severely
injured Post–MVA patient.
Extended long term treatment, for the seriously injured,
may not be necessary if we can initiate Rehab in
the
water prior to the more intense
physical therapy offered at most clinics.
We treat hospital discharged patients who require strength,
balance, and conditioning prior to more aggressive, traditional
therapy.
We consult with and refer to traditional “Clinical”
Physiotherapists to determine transition from the water (non
weight bearing) activity to their clinical environment.
Often, we are the first therapy and our program gives immediate
relief, stability and emotional support for not only the
patient, but also the family.

Post – Trauma Stress
Whenever a catastrophic injury/accident occurs, people
may face fears of more pain or the inability to participate.
Water Moves provides a supportive one to one instruction.
We can assist and take the time to gain the patient’s
confidence in our program and team. As well, their ability
to participate, gives them a comfortable starting point
to pursue other normal outside activities.
Since PTSD is not a visible condition, it’s hard
for people to explain when they suffer from it.
We have awareness and some experience with integrating
PTSD people in to the Group Rehab programs that we offer.
Sharing their experiences in a safe environment, is sometimes
the first step to overcoming fear and anxiety. |
